The Weekly Pull 6.10

The primary reason I got into comic books almost a year ago was to deal with some newly diagnosed mental health issues.  The power of the fantasy in comics helped me cope through a trying time of facing my inner pain and anguish, the source of my anxiety.  They've been quite successful in their power of transformation and healing through a necessary distraction. I find it more than ironic this morning, on my way to pick up new books I received some shocking news.  One of my former students I was quite close with unexpectedly passed away this morning.

With this student we would constantly chat about their experiences being genderqueer in an area that may not be the most progressive.  We would discuss art, literature...and even the dumbest stuff we would find on the internet.  If I were actively reading comments while they were my student, I bet we would find comics to add to our discussions.

It is with a heavy heart, I turn to the distraction and medicinal power of this week's stack to imagine the conversations Phoenix and I would have.  I miss you and I will do my best to honor your spirit each day.

Here's what I picked up!

Yesterday, I previewed the books I was going to try to pick up this week on my channel, I was successful finding nearly all of the covers I wanted.  Here's the order I plan on reading everything this week:

1. Killadelphia #6 (Image)
2. Something Is Killing the Children #7 (Boom)
3. Join the Future #2 (Aftershock)
4. Artemis & the Assassin #2 (Aftershock)
5. Daredevil #20 (Marvel)
6. Batman #92 (DC)
7. Legion of Superheroes #6 (DC)
8. Flash #755 (DC)
9. Lois Lane #11 (DC)
10. Justice League #46 (DC)
11. Undiscovered Country #6 (Image)
12. Deadpool #5 (Marvel)
13-14. New Mutants and Excalibur 10 (whichever the order is supposed to be)
15. Old Haunts #1 (AWA)
16. Decorum #2 (Image)
17. Nightwing #71

I also picked up the Resonant TPB at the suggestion of Bruce & Stephanie.  Reviews will come out in batches of 3-4 across the next couple of days.
