The Weekly Pull (5.20)

I was so excited to finally get to set foot back in my LCS again.  While there were several changes (fewer new books, conversations impeded by masks, and frequent hand sanitizing)...It still felt like I was back at home. Although, I think it was the first time I walked into the shop and did not hear Jason's music at war with the tunes of Jazzercise next door....but it was peaceful.

Did I spend way more time here yesterday than I intended?  Probably...But it was nice to have a sense of re-discovery.  After reading so many new publishers during the closure, I looked for other things I may have missed.  I also felt lighter than usual with my reading.  In an average week, I'm taking 20+ books home, most of them are on the pull list with a few new-ish books that I've seen recommended. Clearly, when you see the only item(s?) on my pull list, getting new things is clearly warranted!

This Week's Pull

Picture
That's it...One thing came out that is on my DC pulls that came in this week.

Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen #11 (DC) (the penultimate issue)

The end...

On the "new to me" end, I also had 2 trades waiting for me.  Transmetropolitan vol 2. and Armory Wars: In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth 3.

I could have walked away, but leaving with only 3 things felt weird to me....so you tell me if I went too far!

New Titles I Picked Up This Week

Picture
Of the 3 other DC titles I picked up, I only sort-of know what's going on in one of them.

DC Unkillables #3 (Sweet Variant)
Red Hood Outlaw #45 (IDK what's going on)
Justice League #44 (same as above)

But I felt compelled to get these because of all of the folks I interact with, they are more DC fans than anything else. I blame Comic Burrito and Wes from CTG.
Then I looked at my stack, and realized I would kick my own ass once I got home if I left without any non DC-Marvel titles.  I cannot go back on my pledge about indie/smaller publisher weekend (I'm aware that Aftershock/Image aren't tiny....leave me alone). So I picked up:
Ludocrats #1 (Image)
Savage Dragon #248 (Image)
Disaster Inc #1 (Aftershock)
Red Border #1 (AWA)

But don't forget the trades.....

Doesn't that Armory Wars cover look sexy AF?  I also picked up the only Ice Cream Man trade the shop had, and ordered the other 3 at Shaquil's recommendation. I picked up Hit-Girl vol. 3 and 4 because I loved Jason's pick of Hit-Girl in Canada from a week or two ago. Finger Guns is not a trade, but it was in the $1 bin and I've heard rave reviews.  The last one is Marvel 1602 by Gaiman at Jason's suggestion.

But Wait! There's More!!!

I'm not really a variant hunter all of the time.  But, I've started looking for the books that I have enjoyed quite a lot, and if I can swap a variant in for the regular cover, I might (I did that with Unkillables this week) but I also found these two gems, just staring me in the face...and if you've read any of my reviews of these series, you know why I had to pick them up!!!!!

That's It.  What did yall get if you were able to walk in to your own shop this week, or did a curbside pick-up? Let me know!
