As a history and government teacher, I love satire, I love books that get political, I love using them as ways to engage my students.  Even if the books take a strong position or bias in one direction or the other, it still creates a teachable moment.  Today's book (produced through an indiegogo campaign) offers a perfect vehicle for such a discussion.

It's one of the best satirical works since Bushisms!

Ronald Rump: The Poor Little Rich Brat #1
By: Peter Wolf

This book is an enjoyable read for a couple of reasons:

1. It is a throwback to the comics of yesteryear.  Instead of one overarching story its divided into several smaller pieces in the book (think longer Sunday funnies....or what they're doing in Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen right now).

2. I am loving the art in the book.  First, I love that Ronald Rump looks like the lovechild of Dennis the Menace and Richie Rich. 2. The cartoony-ness of this book makes it perfect to make Trump..I mean Rump look like a spoiled child throwing real fits (like 200 million folks coming to his party, and fart jokes). And the game show/reality show is a stroke of hilarious brilliance.

3. The satire is 100% on point, if you want to take the absurdity of the last several years in American Politics, and put it into a scope which would make it much more believable...this book encapsulates it perfectly down to every hamberderish detail.

Finally, to bookend the first point, the word search, scrumple, maze and ads in the back of the book makes it not just poignant satire, but embraces nostalgia perfectly.
