The Man who Effed Up Time #3 (Aftershock)
By: John Layman, Karl Mostert, Dee Cunniffe

Ok, I saw the cover and I thought "why the F is Sean decapitated on the front cover?  This has to be a hoax?"  Nope, we see him decapitated four times cover to cover (I think).  This book takes a wild turn, not just with how Sean continues to "butterfly effect" his way through the time stream..but he gets a DOPE weapon (which he shouldn't be trusted with...) in which he finds ways to keep making bigger waves of F-ups!

We also finally discover who's chasing Sean, and you'd never guess who it is!
As I said in my "weekly pull" video, this is easily one of my favorite ongoing comics, because it's absurd in a way that doesn't require mental gymnastics (I'm looking at you Ludocrats)...which makes it a lot of fun.  Second, I think Mostert and Cunniffe are killing it on this artistic team-up.  I love what Mostert did in Unkillables, and I still have nightmares of Mirror Man from the last book.  This book shows an over-the top comedic sense to his art, which I think is really hard to pull off.  I also think the ever-changing environment is something he pulls off quite well, and Cunniffe's colors are the perfect cherry on top.

What should you do? Get 1-3 to see how Sean messes up time in the past, present, and future in hilarious ways!  You won't regret this decision!

Strange Adventures #2 (DC Black)
By: Tom King, Mitch Gerads, Evan Shaner

I liked this one, but maybe not as much as I did the first book.  I can't really settle on why.  I like still exploring the duality of Adam, and meeting Michael in-depth which may have a potentially strong motive to be our villain. But it just felt a little flat to me.  I think I'm going to re-read this right after reading #1 again to see if my mind changes....I just cant find the words for it.

I can say that I love Mitch and Evan's team up on the art (and it is quite hard not to)! But I'll definitely re-evaluate this later.  It wasn't off enough for me to think about dropping the book yet, but #3 is going to have to impress me more to hook me back.  This is one I'm interested in seeing what everyone else thinks.

Family Tree #6 (Image)
By: Jeff Lemire, Phil Hester, Eric Gapstur, Ryan Cody

The new arc begins!  While we still don't know how/why things have spread to become an arboreal wasteland...we at least get an explanation of what happened to Darcy, and more importantly why his father is so important AND a target of the folks who were giving the family chase in the first arc! There is a great philosophical discussion of Man vs. Nature that, if you didn't read the first arc, you should hop on this issue just to see the argument!

The art again is fantastic.  I like the rough edges to all of the human characters, I love watching some of the disfigurations that come from the tree-growth on people (which I mentioned in previous reviews), and I love watching the artistic intensity ramped up to match the intensity of the story.

This is a serious contender for my top book of the week!
