PoserPoints #47--THESE BOOKS ARE FIRE

I couldn't create a clever title based on the three books on top of my stack, but the top of my list delivered! They are all in the running to be my clear pick (or picks) of the week.

Killadelphia #6 (Image)
By: Rodney Barnes, Jason Shawn Alexander, and Luis NCT

Its back!  (and then it goes away again....) but still!  The much anticipated end of the first story arc is here, and it delivered everything I needed and then some.  It was getting hot in Philadelphia and Adams was stirring the pot again (much like when Mr. Feeny played John Adams in 1776)...(how have I been reviewing Killadelphia for MONTHS without making a 1776 reference...maybe this is why I was bad at my theater classes....).  As the epic battle between the living and vampires ramps up we see our two clusters of heroes (both led by a Sangster) to take down their selected threats.  Several big things happen (which I don't want to spoil...but it's a good thing I can "vaguebook").  First, the battle MASSIVE and both Alexander and Luis NCT hit it home with the art and the color.  Second, we get to see Tevin acknowledge his full potential.  We finally see Abagail go OFF.  We get an amazing, heartfelt moment between father and son.

What should you do: If you haven't read any of these..I only have one thing to say

Thankfully for those of you fools who haven't read this yet and you want to play catch-up, the trade comes out in July.  And you know I am definitely team #BuyTheSingles and then #BuyTheTrade!

Something is Killing the Children #7 (Boom!)
By: James Tynion IV, Werther Dell'edera, Miquel Muerto

Things have definitely not calmed down in Archer's Peak.  Even though the largest monster was slain, the nightmare continues.  While there may be some potential closure offered soon to the families of missing children (by seeing piles of remains in bodybags in a gym), for Erica, her nightmare is just beginning.  We see another member of House Slaughter coming to take over her situation.

I don't want to spoil what we learn about the monster offspring...but it ain't good!

Again, this book is another banger.  You know I am in love with the story Tynion has put together, and the team-up of Muerto and Dell'Edera continue to deliver a haunting atmosphere and broken characters in Archers Peak who hope it's all done.  I also love how they approach the phasing in terms of art and color...but won't say anymore until Book 8 drops!

What should you do?  You better hope you snag this book before it wins the best new series Eisner (don't worry, I'll say that about all of the best new series nominees! Although, I have a guess at a winner).

Join the Future #2 (Aftershock)
By: Zack Kaplan, Piotr Kowalski, Brad Simpson, Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou

This book delivers as hard as #1 did.  We find out what happens when you resist the city/the future (lots of shooting!).  As Clem's village decides to take the city's offer and sell off their land, Clem refuses and opts to defend her homestead.  Why the city is coming to take the land or ensure they have all of the village's population under their control is still far from clear.  However, we do learn they are terraforming the land (through some massive scary machines) once they have the rights to it.  As Clem is left to rough it on her own, we learn that agents of "the future" aren't the only things she has to worry about.

What should you do? As I noted in my review of #1 I always need to trust Jason, the owner of my LCS.  I did not pull this book at first, and grabbed #1 the weekend after it came out, and it delivers.  Kaplan has an interesting story which is still hidden closely to his chest. Kowalski and Simpson do a solid job offering a juxtaposition of a wild-west style town with a massive futuristic city imposing upon it from the background.  They join a tale of two wildly different words together in a beautiful fashion, and you should give it a go!
