Jessica Jones Blindspot #5 (Marvel)
By: Kelly Thompson and Mattia De Iulis

Like I said in my review of #1, there was something about this title, about the way Thompson writes about Jessica Jones, that I can relate to.  I could tell that this book was building to a larger message (since in book 4 we were seeing some overtly sexist overtones from "Evil Jared), and towards the end of this book, we got it, and it hit me hard.

Essentially this book is our heroes (Jones, Bloodstone, and Dia and non-evil Jared) working to take down Evil Jared who had been attacking any of the women who had helped Dia in some shape or form.  They meet with Dr. Strange, Dia opens her third eye with him, and she finds a way to reclaim her powers, and at the almost end of the book, non-evil Jared is reluctant to reunite with the personality of evil-Jared, because it was the worst of him removed.  In convincing him JJ, says the following things:
  • You removed the shit that was toxic, but you didn't learn WHY it was toxic, you didn't do all of the hard work to make sure you wouldn't do it all again.  OR
  • You have to take him back into you and accept that all that shit is part of you, or at least your past, and you have to learn to be better, it's the only way.
As someone who has a daughter, coaches a squad jam-packed with a metric ton of intelligent and capable young women, works with some of the most inspiring female coaches in a male-dominated arena, this is a sharp reminder of how often I've fucked up...how often I've been toxic, gaslit for folks who were toxic as fuck, or turned my head the other way that the best way to be an ally is to not only confront my own mistakes (and believe me there are many) but also to be willing to die on the hill of stamping out toxic masculinity.

What should you do?
IF YOU HAVEN'T BOUGHT IT NOW, GO BUY ALL 5, GET BOOK 6 ON MARCH 25TH AND THEN BUY THE DAMN TRADE!

The Man Who F-ed Up Time #2 (Aftershock)
By: John Layman and Karl Mostert

We did an extensive review of #1 on the podcast, because Jason and I both loved it.  Book 2 delivers in the same way book 1 did, but with more absurdity (which I didn't know was possible).  In trying to un-fuck-up time, our janitor-lab assistant attempts to undo everything in the week leading up to the day he f-ed up time, was successful, kicked his own ass (twice...in a way) and fucked up time worse?

What should you do? This is easily a must read!

Punisher Soviet #5 (Marvel)
By: Garth Ennis, Jacen Burrows, Guillermo Ortego, Nolan Woodard

As I said earlier, I LOVE GARTH ENNIS ON THE PUNISHER. When Jason reviewed it on the podcast, I believed I called Ennis "The Gold Standard" of Punisher writers.

BOOK 5 WAS GREAT, AND I AM SAD THERE IS ONLY ONE MORE LEFT....#WEWANTMOREENNIS

SFSX #7 (Image)
By: Tina Horn, Jen Hickman

First, this cover is WILD and I would love a poster of it.

Second, everything flew by so quickly, I had to read it twice.  Our heroic band of sex workers escapes the old dirty mind, shocks everyone at the purity rally by highjacking the stream and uploading what really happened at the "pleasure center" and heroically Avory gets caught, and is now working for the party.  However, in the closing panels, we see that the underground movement is growing in strength (hell yes to QUEERAF radio), and we'll see how everyone responds once they get a moment to regroup and strike again.

What should you do? Listen to Tina Horn's playlists while reading all 7 books!
