#PoserPoints #17

It's my final two books of the week, and last night I also picked up the new Maneaters offshoot and two trades...but we'll save the trades for later!

Superman Villains #1
By: Brian Michael Bendis, Matt Fraction and Jody Houser (and 7 different artists)

This book takes on the reactions of everyone to Superman's big reveal that he is indeed Clark Kent.  You get a lovely scene with his parents, Toyman being recruited to work to take down Leviathan, Luthor destroying his technology because the Joker leaves 98 voice mail messages laughing his ass off, Steve Lombard melting down and many, many more.  This book is great, because it is connecting several of the big DC story arcs right now, which honestly also makes it a little challenging, because I haven't read all of them, but top to bottom this is a solid book.

What should you do? This is a good story throwing everything together in terms of reacting to the big reveal of Superman's secret identity.  The art flows together to perfectly show each perspective from each storyline, and I liked it a lot!  This is a solid choice if you are halfway paying attention to DC right now!

Crone #5 (of 5?) (Dark Horse)
By: Dennis Culver, Justin Greenwood, Brad Simpson, Pat Brosseau

Man everything flew by in this book quickly.  Our hero is awoken at home after sinking into the river and being rejected by death.  She rallies the troops into one final stand.  She forms an alliance with the three kingdoms, and she finally gets the battle she's been thirsting for all along.

What should you do? And so we've come to the end of the road.  Like I said in my previous review of Crone, I don't know why I chose this book, but I am satisfied with its quick run, and how it all resolved itself.  If you like these barbarian-esque titles, give it a go!

Tomorrow Belongs to You (A Maneaters Special Edition) (Image)
By: Chelsea Cain and Lia Miternique

Opening this book to my queen RBG on the hundred-dollar bill, is a sight I would love to see in real life.  I may be in violation of the NDA on page three (although I didn't sign it, and am a representative of the Patriarchy as a cis/het white male), but the opening documentation already sets the bar high for me to enjoy this in the same way I've enjoyed the Maneaters books (I've been slowly consuming the trades).

I FUCKING LOVED IT!!!! I think this book full of coupons, checks, notable women of history, and notes from the Patriarchy Apology Fund is an amazing criticism of institutional sexism, and other structural barriers that continue to oppress women.  I will definitely be sharing this book with several of the students on my team I have also recommended Maneaters to.

What should you do? Yes......just yes, yes yes!
