PoserPoints #16--Its Marvel Time!

Iron Man 2020 #3 (Marvel)
By: Dan Slott, Christos Gage, Pete Woods

This book picks up after the ruse of the slaving code was revealed, and you see robots fleeing. You get a huge battle between Tony (Mark One) and Arno where you hear some interesting dialogue about the Man vs. the Code vs. the Suit. You get an awkward birthday party for Tony, which then leads into the analysis of Arno's plans.  The art in this section is fantastic, especially the visualization of the extinction entity.  Another wild fight breaks out with another huge event which leaves us hanging at the end.

What should you do? I'll have a note after the review of the next book....

Rescue 2020 #1 (Marvel)
By: Dana Schwartz, Jacen Burrows, Pete Pantazis

We get an ass-kicking Pepper Pots back in action.  Since rescue spoils the end of Iron Man 2020 #3, Tony is dead again.  We don't know if it is for real or not, since his consciousness may be still floating around in the cloud, but can they bring him back physically? Pepper's quest is to get some of Amanda Stark's hair to bring Tony back.  The book ends with what appears to be Hydra announcing the death of Tony Stark, and then a shit ton of drones storm the Stark house where Pepper and Amanda take them all down...or so they think...

What should you do? Look Below....

My thoughts on this Iron Man 2020 Universe

While I have liked many of the books individually, at times it feels like a little too much may be going on...The robot uprising seems like a good vehicle, but my true issue may very simply be, I am too unfamiliar with some of the major character arcs to feel engaged.  There are also a lot of tie-in books which feel essential and overwhelming at the same time.  You've got Iron Man 2020, Machine Man, Force Works, Rescue, Ironheart, and somehow wolverine 1 fits into this narrative?  I just struggle piecing all of this together at times, so this may fall into the category of intriguing story, but it is not for me...

Excalibur #8 (Marvel)
By: Tini Howard, Wilton Santos, Marcus To, Sean Parsons, Roberto Poggi, Victor Nava

The warwolf hunt continues!  Amidst the awkward dinner conversations and the assumed ties to the Bloodstone Estate and Coven Akkaba a lot happens. Additionally, the team succeeds on bringing the 5 warwolf skulls to Apocalypse for the ritual.  They also bring a baby warwolf (maybe the last of its kind) home, and there is a discussion as to whether or not they can keep it, and you discover it is a test to see how much Apocalypse will give in to the team.

What should you do? Excalibur has been one of those books that I've fallen more and more in love with since the beginning, even if I wasn't super familiar with the Captain Britain storyline at the beginning, Howard and the team have delivered.

Marauders #9 (Marvel)
By: Gerry Duggan, Matteo Lolli, Edgar Delgado

Marauders has easily been my favorite spinoff of the whole "Dawn of X" titles.  The story is always high energy, figuring out a chess match, and just absurd enough.  This title delivers when you discover that Pryo had been injected with a submarine piloted by Yellowjacket, who had been transmitting information off of Krakoa.  As Yellowjacket knows he's been discovered, he grows in size and EXPLODES PYRO!!!!!! Or so we think...They've been controlling the world that Yellowjacket had seen and they expel him from the island. You also get to see Frost ad Pyro fire some serious shots at Verendi, setting up another conflict in this book.....

What should you do? If you haven't been reading Marauders, you are a fool!

One final note on the X Books

I LOVE SEEING THE INCREASED NUMBER OF OPENLY GAY CHARACTERS IN THE X-UNIVERSE.  Teaching a lot of students who are at every point on the Queer identity spectrum, its nice seeing an increased level of representation in big name books...that is all!
