PoserPoints #10

I'm a comics reviewing machine today, and I'm hitting the bottom of my new stack (before I get into the build-my-own-trade on Flash Forward and Captain America....)So Here We Go!!!

Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen #8 (DC)
By: Matt Fraction, Steve Lieber, Nathan Fairbairn

I have easily loved all of these books, and I hope they come back after this 12-issue Maxi run.  Reign of the Subparmen is hilarious, and I feel like Extreme Olsen is a snapshot of me from the 90's.  Holy Shit is the Porcadillo wearing pink Crocs?  YES!! Why does Apeth Jimmy Olsen have sad underpants?

What should you do? This is buy the singles and then the trades, the constant use of shorts as the format makes it highly fun with a great deal of payoff.  The art and the stories are fantastic, and all match the appropriate mood.  I'm going to miss this book if it goes away after 12.

Jane Foster Valkyrie #8 (Marvel)
By: Jason Aaron, Torunn Gronbekk, Cafu, Jesus Aburtov

The new arc begins and shit gets wild from jump.  Anti-life is now coursing around the globe, and you see all of the avengers in action to take down the new menace.  It is fascinating to see Jane and Thor side by side, and it was fun watching all of the Avengers doubt that they knew the Valkyrie since they had not seen her in a while.  Can Thor step in to take down the source of the anti-life #spoileralert NO, since its the first book of the arc...do we get a tainted thor?

What should you do? I like what's happening in this book, and like I said in my Ghost Spider review, you can definitely pick this book up and start fresh and not feeling like you are missing anything.

Guardians of the Galaxy #2 (Marvel)
By: Al Ewing, Juann Cabal, Federico Blee

All I gotta say about this one, we know Quill ain't dead, because he hasn't become an old man yet....or has he?  The art in this book is absolutely fabulous in terms of the battles, the room where the bomb resides, the whole sequence with Athena is psychedelic. I can't wait to see what is up next in this battle of Guardians vs the Gods.

What should you do? Give this one a chance, because I think we are about to get some god-on-god violence in #3 after the bomb destroys an entire planet and a guardian-in-tow.

Archie Meets the B-52s (Archie)
By: Alex Segura, Matthew Rosenberg, Dan Parent, Glenn Whitmore

This was an easy book for me to pick up for two reasons:
1. I love the B-52's, if I ever get fired from this teaching gig, I'll start a B-52s cover band.
2. I'm shocked, that in their entire history, Archie has never met the B-52s.

Even though I'm not a big Archie reader, this was a fun adventure in getting the literal band back together again.

What should you do? To each their own...
