Strikeforce 1-6 (Marvel)
By: Tini Howard, German Peralta, and a bunch of other cats who hop off and on

The two things that made me put this on my pull list: The Winter Soldier and Blade.  For some reason, this book kept gathering dust in the "to do" pile, and I have no idea why I left it neglected as long as I did.

This book brings together: Blade, Angela, Spectrum, The Winter Soldier, Spider-Woman, Wiccan, and Hellstrom together where they are dealing with what is initially billed as a potential disease outbreak.  The Avengers storm a facility where everyone but Blade and Hellstrom are, and the Avengers believe that Strikeforce (not their official name until book 5) are guilty for creating the outbreak, however Blade ensures them that he'll investigate the problem and to just give him distance and time.

We eventually learn the first villainous cluster are the Vridai, a shapeshifting species released during the War of the Realms (which was wrapping up as I was getting into reading, so I am a little lost at times).  In book 4, however, we learn that several of the characters may have past interactions with the Vridai through a series of flashbacks (this book has 4-5 guest artists doing each of the flashbacks, and it is pretty cool to see all of the distinct styles that Fiumara, Cresta, Lee, and Brown offer). Book 5, we pick up another villain arc, when we discover what is causing Spectrum to have her episodes, and I was surprised to see GHOST POPPED OUT OF HER FREAKING BODY!!!!! Arcing into book 6 we learn that Ghost was working with Moonstone to create some sort of initiative where souls can be stored into a sort of digital heaven?  This almost seems similar to the technology mutants may have to reboot consciousness on Krakoa, but we are still learning what her true motives are.

What should you do? Yeah, don't sleep on this book.  One of the cover quotes from book 2 is another cult following in the making, and I think that is 1000% correct.  I want to see what Howard does next, especially since the crew apparently will land on Monster Island with King Deadpool?
