I still remember the randomly hooking up with Kris Hornett on twitter, and finding out that he was writing a Comic/Manga and I thought it was a cool as hell concept, and I felt like a fool asking him some Manga 101 questions, and he took the time to educate me, and share his first chapter of Grey with me and I was blown away. AND TO LAND AN INHYUK LEE COVER FOR BOOK 2 ON TOP OF A FIRE STORY!!!!! GOOD LORDY!
I'm here to let you know that pre-orders for Chapter 3 opened on September 25th, and you are going to want to pick it up NOW!
Grey: Chapter 3-Deja Vu
This series of panels is on page 5 amidst our immersion into an episode of Deja Vu. In several other books that use a flashback tactic normally has some sort of box text explaining the events of the past or present. You see someone unpacking the events on a follow-up page. You see the creators create how you should interpret the events.
I like what Arollado and Hornett have done here. Across 12 pages with next-to-no text offered, your mind is left to interpret these events amidst what you've learned about Shuyin in the first two books, and each time I've read it, I come up with a new theory. I derive a new interpretation of what we experience. This style of freedom for the reader is a great way to keep us engaged throughout the series. We'll keep seeing images similar to these, and we will constantly keep thinking and interpreting until we get an answer.
Why do I like Kale? No real reason...I just look at him and smile and laugh. He looks like a "Kale" to me. He looks like the embodiment of Whole Foods....He looks like a dude who would work with technology.
Regardless, he becomes a large vehicle in giving us enough information to keep us hooked to what could be coming for us in Chapter 4. As for the final reveal.....what happened at the fashion show could look like child's play in the near future.
Also, they've got some dope merchandise up on the website now, and all I'm sayin Kris is that I bet that hoodie would look real good on a certain reviewer in a 2XL.

The Editors Panel
And then we saw an "accidental?" reveal of titles when some art panels were shared:
- Bountiful Garden (This is the book Steenz is editing)
- In the Shadow of the Throne (maybe the work Moccio is on)
- Potions Inc. (Schultz? or the art displayed which is beautiful could flip flop with Throne)
- The Last Session (also Moccio?)
Regardless the art they show for all 4 books seem unique to each title, which really proves the something for everything feel of Mad Cave Studios.
The session wrapped with an excellent Q and A where they talk about some of the books and what they enjoy about their work and what they'd like to do to improve their craft!
The Final Panel--Manny and the two Chris Party
Congrats to Nat winning a Knights of the Golden Sun Variant! I love that book!!! You will enjoy it and the art! I think that book is super cool!
I don't know anyone else who won anything, but I'm jealous AF of all of you, and I will fight you for your winnings!
This was a great event, I've now seen both showacases start to finish, and Mad Cave is changing the game, and their new YA imprint is also awesome. Be prepared for Maverick and Mad Cave to be a force to be reckoned with for decades to come!
ALSO, THAT FINAL HYPE VIDEO!!! DAMN!!!! MORE TITLE DROPS!!!!
Nottingham--David Hazan, Shane Volk, Brian Hawkins
You should go back and check in on the stream, because the pages Shane revealed that he's been working on (on good ol' paper) are amazing! I can't wait to see or hear more about this, because it looks amazing!
HOLY CRAP THEY REVEALED THE COVER TO ISSUE 1 AND IT IS AMAZING!!!!!!!
